First match was played against a Clare side on the astro turf in Mick Neville Park. Our midfield was dominating and full forward Declan O’Grady scored 2 goals in the opening half. Cathal Kiely and Conor Hough both added scores to give SMI a comfortable lead. Leon O’ Flynn scored a nice point from center back. Despite giving away some soft frees our backs were solid defensively.The final score ending in 3-8 to 1-4.
Second game, against Mallow, our boys came out fired up and played with an intense workrate. We began to score goal after goal and added some excellent points. Corner forward Diarmuid Doody and Jack Windle scored a few nice well earned points and Declan O'Grady scored a whopping 4 goals. Our midfield and half backs completely dominated with a score of 8-14 to 0-1 to finish.
Final match was the toughest against Tralee. The Kerry side started well with two points and then a goal which gave SMI a real challenge in the second half. We had a few chances but came up short in the end. The final score ended 1-6 to 0-6. Our team did very well and have qualified for the finals.
